I tried the Norvell Vent. self tanner originally and it didn’t come out as dark as I wanted. This is what I used to get spray tanned with and I was obsessed with the color. I also ordered a mist bottle. I will admit it was deff a two person task (shout out to my husband). I had him spray me and I rubbed it in with a mitt.

I also want to mention, this is two coats. It dried perfectly, the smell is amazing, semi sticky but nothing out of the norm when it comes to a self tanner. The bottle says to leave on for 24 hours but I left it on for about 12 then took a warm shower with just water.

My second shower was about 9 hours after that and I didn’t exfoliate until my third shower (lightly I might add). This pic was taken after my first shower.

The most beautiful realistic looking tan. All self tanners will look orange eventually after they develop if you don’t exfoliate your skin after a day or two. But this one looks fantastic.

It’s brown almost a purple hue (in a good, natural way) that does NOT look orange when you apply it. People always assume that’s my natural skin color or that I went tanning.

DEFINITELY use a moisturizer bc it dries out your skin just a tad, but it’s worth it.

They have a spray can version of this (I think it’s called a tanning mist) that’s even better especially if you don’t have a spray tan machine. KEEP IT REFRIGERATED to make it last. Self tanner liquids will eventually turn green if you leave them around for too long (especially in the summer unless you keep your A/C super cool).

This is a FANTASTIC product. I’ve tried literally EVERY self tanner you can imagine and this is THEE best. Will buy again and again and again and again. But like I said, get the spray tanning mist version if you don’t have a machine.

Edit: after owning this gun for almost 6 months, I still like it and use it weekly, but….I can’t get the super fine mist you get with the sprayer/solution separate from the machine. I stay “tacky/wet” for hours after my spray tan.

So I try to time it so I can do stuff nude or in my robe for at least 3 hours, and I’m still tacky! I use the st tropez that gets results in 1 hour for a light tan to 3 hours for a dark tan, and because it doesn’t dry, I don’t think it’s working properly.

The pros?

-Awesome price. Norvell is an amazing brand and this bundle is a STEAL -Perfect for on-the-go/mobile spray tans but especially perfect for personal use -User-friendly. This gun isn’t rocket science to use -Long cord for plug -Cups hold a lot of solution -Easy to clean -Never leaks or gives me any troubles

The cons?

-So heavy… even after spraying one person my arm is sore. 2 sprays in a row? I think my arm might fall off lol. -Extra cups are hard to find online, and even if you do find them, they’ll charge you $20+ for 2 plastic cups worth 50 cents -Customer service is basically non-existent. You’ll wait 40+ mins on the phone to just hang up -Loud. Sounds just like a hair dryer. Super hard to hear what clients are talking to me about -Don’t be fooled by the dial that apparently adjusts the flow of the spray. It doesn’t do anything lol. -With that being said, this machine sprays heavily and harshly (yes even on the finest spray “setting”). To me, it does not look “flawless” when my clients are leaving the salon. When it sprays, it sprays with dots all over rather than seamlessly blending in with the skin. Now although it looks like this cosmetically, I have never gotten a complaint from a client about their tan, so there’s that. I also think it looks fine on me when it’s the day after. But it can freak you out when you’re doing the initial spray bc it can look crazy.

All and all, I’ve been spraying for 5 years and just recently started my own biz, so it def is VERY easy to be nit-picky on this stuff. I think this gun is fabulous for beginners, maybe mobile sprays if you have the arm strength, but 100% more for personal use. If you’re running a business doing 4+ sprays a week, this is not the gun I would recommend.

Most Helpful Review: “I’ve used this a few ways. First by applying directly to a mitt (it’s liquid so make sure you cover the top of the bottle with the mitt completely) and then by mixing it with a thick, fragrance free lotion.

I found a video online of someone else who mixes hers with lotion and it’s working well for me too. I’m quite pale,some might say translucent, & I like that it’s a bronze color when applying so I can make sure I don’t miss any spots. The first time mixing it with lotion I was a little apprehensive & erred on the side of not adding too much solution to the lotion. It was a light, butterscotch color.

You couldn’t really tell I had applied any. Maybe it would have worked like a gradual tanner but I didn’t want to wait a week to see results. The next time I used more solution and I like it much more! I just use a throw-away/leftover type plastic container with a lid, dump in the fragrance free lotion, add the Norvell solution & mix with a spoon until I get a color I like.

This method works great for me & extends the bottle so I don’t think I’ll need to get another one for quite awhile.

One thing to mention….When I applied it the first way, directly to a mitt, I had plastic gloves on, thankfully I had them on, because it did seep through the mitt on to my plastic gloves. Since it was my first attempt, I only did my legs. I figured if it was a disaster I could wear pants until it faded.

It lasted about a week & I shower & bathe regularly (if you read the manufacturer’s site it gives specific washing/rinsing instructions for people who compete [no worries there for me]). If you do use with the mitt, I would apply lotion/barrier cream to the usual places: elbows, knees, feet, ankles, etc. as it is very dark & my toes looked way too dark.

I still wear gloves & use the mitt with the lotion mixture, just in case it’s too dark but in the video I watched she said she doesn’t have any issues just applying it with her bare hands.

Been buying this for years. I truly love it. I exfoliate with sugar scrub and a body brush in the shower. When i get out i don’t dry off, I apply a shea butter based lotion, all over, then dry off with a super clean newish towel (no lint). Then I put on more lotion, on dry skin prone areas, little more on my knees, wrists, elbows, and the whole top of my feet. I use an old, empty, jergiens natural glow foam pump bottle, and pour all of this tanner into it.

Shake it a little. Give it two-five pumps to get any old mix out of bottle. Then, from the pump foam bottle, I apply it directly to my skin, avoiding dry skin areas, and spread quickly , then rub vigorously in circular motions until it’s all absorbed and even.

You’ll want to go over any dry prone areas very lightly as your rubbing it all in. And after, you’ll want to remain undressed a little longer with my method, the lotion, depending on what you use, can make the tanner take longer to absorb. I usually just apply it at night, and sleep in the nude. I get perfect results this way.

The tanner lasts longer, faded nicely. When I shower with this on I use warm, not hot, water. I use a soft bristled body brush and mix my moisturising body wash with coco butter lotion.

I’ll usually apply it twice days in a row to get the dark color I’m looking for. It works soooo well. On the face, it can make your pores look clogged, so I use it sparingly on my face.
